The 2024 Lorna Casselton Memorial Lecture, entitled "AI and the Challenge of Human Cooperation", will be given by Professor Matthew Botvinick (Director of Neuroscience Research, DeepMind), at 5 pm on Thursday 16th May in the Mathematical Institute Lecture Theatres 1 and 2, Woodstock Road, Oxford. The Lecture will also be livestreamed.

Professor Lorna Casselton was an 1851 Research Fellow 1963-1965. During her fellowship she was based at UCL and researched Fungal Genetics-the genetics of diploid strains of Coprinus Iagopus. She went on to be a fungal geneticist of world renown, professor at Oxford University and Vice-President and Foreign Secretary of the Royal Society. From 2001-2013 she was a very active member of the Commission's Science & Engineering Fellowship Committee. She was a regular attender at Commission events and many of our alumni, commissioners and staff remember her with great affection.
