All associated with the 1851 Royal Commission will share our enormous sadness at the news of The Duke of Edinburgh’s death. Many of you will have met him over the forty-four years he was our President and witnessed at first hand the great interest he took in all that we did. He was a huge influence in modernising the Commission and today’s Industrial Fellowships and Industrial Design Studentships are just two examples of initiatives that he began. He continued to follow our affairs in retirement and we will miss his wise counsel. Our thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen and all the Royal Family at this sad time.
